Who this is for
What Orchard does
Keep each mandate apart, each with its own totals — and move a holding from one portfolio to another when a transfer happens.
Report on January to December, or on 1 March to the end of February. Your dashboard and your PDF summary both follow the year you choose.
An email when a company in a portfolio you administer declares a dividend, with the dates and the amount per share.
Month by month and portfolio by portfolio, with gross, withholding tax and net per holding. Email it to your inbox in one click.
One switch treats every holding in that portfolio as tax-free, so no dividend withholding tax is deducted from any of them.
Switch a portfolio to Auto and Orchard marks its dividends as received as each ex-date passes, counting only the shares held before that date.
Record each purchase with its own date, so a position built over four tranches still reports correctly when only part of the position qualified for a dividend.
Orchard tracks dividends on JSE shares and distributions on ETFs and REITs, with withholding tax applied where it applies.
How it works
You type them in, or add each purchase with its date. Orchard never connects to a brokerage and never asks for anyone's login.
Announced dividends are picked up and applied to the holdings they belong to. When nothing is announced yet — Orchard shows as an estimate, what the company paid in a particular month the previous year (estimates are not counted as reported income, only announced dividends are).
A running total per portfolio, and a PDF summary for the calendar or tax year when the paperwork is due.
Orchard reports what a holding paid and projects what the holdings you entered are likely to pay. It never suggests what to buy, sell or hold.
There is no linking to any brokerage account and no credentials to hand over. Orchard is a dividend income tracker separate from client's brokerage accounts.
Orchard shows what reaches the account, with dividend withholding tax applied where it is withheld. What tax a client finally owes depends on their own tax position.
